I know most of you women feel me when I say keeping my skin clear is a full-time job. One day my skin looks clear as day and I feel like Beyoncé, the next day I wake up with what looks like a volcano that’s about to erupt on my forehead.
As I have gotten older my skin has become a bit more sensitive. It has taken me a while to find a routine of products that not only prevent my breakouts but have me leaving the house feeling confident with no makeup.
What works best for my skin is incorporating products that consist of Vitamin C and Retinol. When talking about anti-aging and prevention, those two components are crucial. If you are just starting a Vitamin C or Retinol regiment, it is normal for you skin to appear dry in the beginning. It can take your skin a bit to acclimate. However, it is all worth it when you show up for your daytime bumble date and your skin is on fleek.
Here is my current (September 2019) nighttime skin routine:
Tatcha Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser
This cleanser not only gets all the crap off your skin but also gives you a nice gentle exfoliation at the same time. I tried a friend’s once on a girls’ trip and I have used it every day since. I am definitely the girl who would never have spent $38 on a cleanser to be completely honest, however, every penny is worth it. Also, a little bit of this product goes a long way!
Bioderma Micellaire Solution
Bioderma is a cleansing water that removes all that extra makeup and dirt that your cleanser did not remove. My aesthetician recommended I only wash my face once a day to avoid drying out my skin. So since I wash at night, in the morning I will use Bioderma to cleanse my skin before applying my serums and sunscreen for the day. Bioderma also helps soothe and clear up irritated skin.
Glossier Exfoliating Skin Perfector
I love to use this product when my skin is acting up. After I wash my skin, I will dispense the solution onto a cotton pad and gently rub and press the product into my skin. This helps gently exfoliate off dead skin and helps clear up my breakouts. I do need to seriously moisturize after using this product, and my skin is a bit too sensitive to use this every day. However, this is great to incorporate into your skin routine especially if you are like me and have random breakouts.
IS Clinical Active Serum
This serum is the real deal. I love that when you apply the serum you feel a slight tingling sensation. That’s when you know shit is getting REAL. This has helped brighten my skin, help minimize fine lines and reduces the browns and red spots on my skin. This also has severely helped stop my breakouts that for a while seemed to really have it out for me. Like can I just live, please?
Sunday Riley Luna Night Oil
I have become obsessed with this lightweight retinol oil. This serum is similar to the IS Clinical Active Serum as it targets fine lines/wrinkles and dark spots. When I am having active breakouts I tend to use the IS Clinical more often, however, I go back and forth between these two products on a regular basis. They both also work well on my sensitive skin.
La Mer Moisturizer “Creme de la Mer”
This soothing moisturizer is definitely a splurge item, but very much worth it. I love that this product can give me deep hydration but does not make me break out or clog my pores. I also love the dewy glow that appears on my skin after application. There are plenty of other moisturizers that are a bit more budget-friendly that I use often as well. Here are some other moisturizers I love that I use on repeat:
Tata Harper Eye Balm
This Tata Harper Boosted Contouring Eye Balm is another splurge item but when we are talking about our under eyes, we gotta get after it. I use this and the La Mer Eye Balm Intense. Again, both a bit pricey but work so well. A little bit goes a long way with these products so they do last a while. Both products help boost skin regeneration, de-puff, firm and lift the skin. Yes please to all of that!
